Frequently Asked Questions
Hypnosis
-
Everyone naturally goes into hypnotic states regularly. Daydreaming, mediation, getting lost in a good book, being “in the zone” or even driving home and realizing you don’t remember the route home (but you remember daydreaming about that vacation on your bucket list), are all examples of being in a hypnotic state.
Hypnosis is a natural state of relaxation where the mind is calm, the analytical mind (i.e. critical factor) is relaxed and selective thinking (i.e. focused-concentration) is maintained. The relaxed critical factor facilitates communication between the conscious and subconscious mind. Achieving the hypnotic state is a skill - the more you practice it, the easier it becomes to go into hypnosis.

Hypnotherapy is an educational and self-improvement process that facilitates access to internal resources that assist people in solving problems, increasing motivation, or altering behavioral beliefs and patterns to create positive change. Hypnotherapy helps to free you from fear-based programming and assumed limitations.
Hypnotherapy entails the application of universally accepted self-discovery techniques and self-improvement methods during the hypnotic state that help to free you from fear-based thinking.
Integral Hypnotherapy™ is a collaborative, client-centered approach of hypnotherapy. the client (i.e., co-therapist) plays integral role in their hypnotherapy sessions by helping to create the positive suggestions and imagery related to achieving their goal. Integral Hypnotherapy™ integrates traditional hypnotherapy protocols with contemporary techniques, and is the only hypnotherapy process that has been scientifically validated and funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH).

When in hypnosis, you will feel a deep state of mental and physical relaxation combined with a heightened focus. Depending on the session, negative feelings may occur when reviewing undesired thought patterns, but these feelings are temporary and you will go back into a state of total relaxation before coming out of hypnosis.
-
You are fully aware of what is happening during a hypnotherapy session and are in complete control of your thoughts, actions, and what you choose to speak out loud. The goal of hypnotherapy is to give you more control over your life by programming your subconscious thoughts that will lead to your goals.
Despite what we’ve all seen on TV and during stage hypnosis shows, hypnotherapy isn’t about being made to bark like a dog for laughs.
Hypnotherapy is about getting into a state of relaxation, setting goals, imagining helpful imagery, and repeating positive suggestions for change. Hypnotherapy is not about mind control or falling asleep — rather, it’s about waking up and taking control of your life. You are physically relaxed yet in a heightened state of awareness. Think about the last time you were driving somewhere, spaced out, and you snap out of it minutes later. That’s hypnosis, and it occurs naturally on a daily basis.

You cannot get stuck in hypnosis (just as you cannot get stuck in meditation).
The Hypno Haven Sessions
-
Most clients achieve their goals in four to eight sessions.
As with any goal, hypnotherapy is most effective when the client commits themselves to the process — which entails performing personally-designed self-improvement exercises outside of our sessions (e.g., journaling, meditation, etc.). During our sessions, I will teach you how to practice self-hypnosis so you can strengthen your skills at home.
My ultimate goal is to help you regain control by opening the door to the self-improvement resources within your mind - you are the integral part of the process.
-
For the first 15 minutes, we will discuss your goals and how hypnotherapy can help address them. After, you will have the option to experience a light and short hypnotherapy session (~ 10 minutes). This is completely optional and offered so you can get a better sense of hypnosis prior to booking sessions. People express feeling deeply relaxed after their mini hypnotherapy session.
